Our Safety Mission

Prioritizing Safety at Koenig Concrete Corp.
Safety is at the core of everything we do at Koenig Concrete. Working in concrete construction presents plenty of safety risks, so we are committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all of our employees, clients, and partners. By taking proactive measures, providing thorough ongoing training, and focusing on always improving, we strive to lead the way by upholding the highest safety standards.
Our Safety Mission: To protect our workers, prevent accidents, and maintain a culture of safety that is embedded in every aspect of our work.
Our Four Pillars of Safety: Prepare, Prevent, Protect, and Respond
Our approach is based on four key pillars that guide our daily practices:
Prepare
Koenig arrives prepared by keeping up with current regulations and standards to provide a safe working environment for employees. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve, which can be achieved through continual evaluation of engineering and administrative controls. These measures, along with site hazard recognition, new tools/equipment, and effective training, create a prepared workforce.
Prevent
Hazard assessments guarantee that preventative measures are constantly being taken to eliminate hazards as they come up. Attention to housekeeping, work area organization, site condition evaluation, weather conditions, and communication with other trades ensure that as potentially hazardous situations arise, they are taken care of before they cause harm.
Protect
Once preparation is done and preventative measures are in place, every Koenig employee is equipped and trained on the proper use and fit of their personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE includes eye, hand, and body protection, and involves the critically important step of identifying, addressing, and managing respiratory hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is the last line of defense for employees. The correct PPE is always made available and worn properly to protect workers from any remaining hazards.
Respond
With proper prevention, preparation, and protection, emergency response should be used in very few cases. Even thorough planning may not prevent all potential hazards. Managed and maintained response supplies including first-aid kits, spill-control materials, extinguishers, and eyewash kits are provided for all Koenig employees. Emergency response contacts are posted on every site in case of additional response and hazard mitigation.
Fostering A Culture of Safety
Safety is an integral part of our company culture. We try to actively address any safety concerns that arise on the job, ensuring that all employees are informed and prepared. Our approach is built around a proactive, preventive strategy and includes training, hazard awareness and prevention, and a culture of endless improvement. Some of the specific areas we focus on include:
- Fall Prevention: Koenig Concrete takes fall prevention very seriously, especially as our employees are constantly working on scaffolding and elevated surfaces. We implement fall protection systems, provide regular safety training, and regularly inspect all elevated work surfaces.
- Hazcom: We adhere to strict Hazard Communication (Hazcom) standards. All employees are trained on the safe handling of hazardous materials, and proper documentation (i.e. Safety Data Sheets) are available on-site to promote and guarantee safe work practices.
- Silica Awareness: Silica exposure is a known health risk, and we make every effort to protect our team here at Koenig. Through engineering controls (vacuum/ water hookups) and PPE, we manage silica hazards and promote awareness, ensuring that our employees are trained and informed.
Safety is a core value that shapes our operations and culture here at Koenig Concrete. We are truly committed to creating a secure environment where every employee, client, and partner is protected. By adhering to our Four Pillars of Safety – Preparation, Prevention, Protection, and Response – and continually investing in safety training, equipment, and best practices, we aim to keep each job site as safe as possible.
